    About - Sally Johnson

Sally Johnson, B.Sc., M.A., Member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT), is a Depth Psychotherapist, facilitator, and teacher working in the psychodynamic and transpersonal traditions.* Sally has been a therapist since 1990, working with individuals, couples and groups. She currently works in Kincardine, Collingwood, and Toronto, Ontario.  Sally teaches courses in Transpersonal Psychology at the Living Institute in Toronto. She also teaches other practitioners how to use art as a therapeutic tool in her Communication Through Art courses. She has given seminars on The Shadow to management teams, workshops on Clear Communication, Creating Personal Symbols, and Grief and Loss in Adoption. She writes about the human condition in areas such as working with difficult emotions through meditation. Her background is in Physiological Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Expressive Arts, and Adoption Reunion. Her passionate interests are the integration of Eastern and Western psychological perspectives, interpersonal communication, the interplay of psychology and art, and helping people find a balance between their personal and transpersonal life challenges. The central perspective of her  work with people can be summed up as follows: In order to be of service to others, we each need to find a true balance between our inner and outer worlds.

*Psychodynamic therapy  addresses long-standing, underlying patterns that hold people back from reaching their fullest potential, and cause undue emotional pain. The transpersonal perspective comes later, following the inner, personal, psychodynamic work, and addresses our need as humans to develop a worldview  that goes beyond our individual lives, includes and respects our spiritual needs, and reaches into the world to be of service to others. Ultimately, the purpose of this psychotherapy is for each person to heal old wounds, find meaning and a purposeful focus in life.

How does this work? Our first meeting is an intake interview/session to find out if we should work together. Privacy and confidentiality are important cornerstones of the work we embark on together.
